A traditional weekly rep season at the delightful Marine Theatre, on the seafront in beautiful Lyme Regis. Gilroy Theatre will present three full-length plays in three weeks, beginning on Thursday 1st August, with a new show opening every Thursday, and running until Tuesday 20th August.
This ‘Summer Season of Plays’ promises three weeks of great entertainment.
First is Patrick Hamilton’s ‘Gaslight’ – a classic Victorian thriller. If you don’t know the play, you will know the name – the term ‘gaslighting’ is heard so much today, making this a timely psychological drama. Next is a brilliant comedy from one of the world’s most-performed and popular living playwrights – Alan Ayckbourn. ‘Taking Steps’ is almost a farce, with lots of running up and down stairs and in and out of rooms, with mistaken letters and mistaken identities, all leading to much hilarious confusion. The season finale is a sinister thriller made famous by Alfred Hitchcock – ‘Dial “M” for Murder’ by Frederick Knott. It poses the question ‘can you ever get away with the perfect crime’ and will definitely have you on the edge of your seat.
The company of professional actors are looking forward to bringing to life vibrant weekly rep productions for a new generation of theatre audiences.
There are a range of ticket prices for every performance, plus members’ discount and a season ticket of £45 for anyone booking all three shows.
Check website for dates as weekends may vary.
All performances at 7.30pm.
