Dorset Family History Society is excited to announce they have been working in partnership with Devon Family History Society and the Family History Federation to host the South West Really Useful Family History Show at Kinson Community Centre (Pelhams Park), Millhams Road, Bournemouth, BH10 7LH on Saturday 29th March 2025 from 10am until 4pm.
Dorset FHS has lined up a great range of exhibitors, speakers & experts. With FREE entry, FREE parking and refreshments available all day it promises to be a great event, featuring:
Talks:
‘Making the most of your autosomal DNA matches’ at 10.30am & 1.30pm. A practical talk focusing on Ancestry DNA showing how to work with your matches to advance your family history research.
‘A to Z of Family History – an alphabetical journey through less well-known sources’ at 12noon & 3pm. When tracing a family tree the temptation is to use the more well-known sources usually available online via the major providers, but this presentation introduces a variety of less known resources.
Talk attendance is limited (a small fee will apply) and will be allocated on a first come first served basis at the event.
Meet the Experts:
On the day reserve a free slot to meet our Experts to assist with :-

‘Exploring Your DNA’ Between talks meet our speaker to get advice on your own DNA journey.
‘Palaeography – reading old Wills’ Tips for looking at old handwriting and assistance with deciphering old Wills. Bring along old documents to get some guidance.
‘General Family History Research’ Researchers from Family History Societies will be available for advice, guidance & general help with research challenges.

There will be a range of exhibitors present from neighbouring Family History Societies, commercial organisations who provide goods & services of interest to family historians, and local history societies.
